Man sought in Kinston shooting

Kinston authorities said Monday they are searching for a man wanted in connection with a shooting that sent another man to a hospital.

Officers from the Kinston Department of Public Safety said they went to the 800 block of East Caswell Street about 8:30 p.m. Friday and learned a man had been shot and taken by private vehicle to Lenoir Memorial Hospital.

The man, identified as Jaquel Maurice Dixon, 19, had a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was taken by ambulance to Vidant Medical Center.

Officers have obtained a warrant for the arrest of Shelton Mason, who is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
