Man sought for questioning in double homicide

Fayetteville police asked for the public's help Thursday in finding a man they want talk to about the June 23 double homicide at Watauga Manor Apartments.

Investigators named Reginald Walter Watford, 20, of 1603 Morehead Avenue, as a person of interest in the shooting deaths of Joe "Hawk" Hawkins and his 26-year-old son, Alexis Hawkins.

The man suspected in their death, Mario Jacquez Boykin, 20, also remains at large. Boykin is also charged with armed robbery, burglary and conspiracy in the case.

Police described Boykin as a black man, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 135 pounds. He might be in a blue Chevrolet Tahoe and in the company of other individuals associated with this crime. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Boykins served six months in prison after convictions on three counts of common-law robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon in 2007, according to state Department of Correction records.
