Man shot in head in Fayetteville parking lot

Fayetteville police responded to the scene of a shooting at a strip mall near Morganton Road Elementary school Saturday evening.

Around 8 p.m., officers found a man who had been shot in the head in his car, which was parked in the lot outside Super Compare Foods, at 155 Bonanza Dr.

The car was riddled with bullets, but authorities declined to comment on a motive or possible suspects.

The victim was taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital. His condition was not released.
