A man was arrested Friday evening in connection with a shooting at a Chapel Hill home earlier in the day, police said.

Bartholomew Romidas Scott, 35, was charged with first-degree murder and was being held without bail in the Orange County jail.

Officers were called to 102 Christopher Road just before noon regarding a reported break-in and found a man had been shot several times, police said.

Lew Hahn Hood, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Hood wasn't a resident of the home, but they released no other details of the case.

The shooting prompted two area schools – Glenwood Elementary School, at 2 Prestwick Road, and St. Thomas More Catholic School, at 920 Carmichael St. – to go on a precautionary lockdown.

Police said there was no direct threat to either school.
