More than 200 people attended a vigil in Person County Thursday night for a boater who has not been found since his canoe capsized in January.

Relatives and friends of Chad Lee Napier, 32, prayed, hugged and sang hymns by candlelight.

Napier and another man were boating on Mayo Lake in Roxboro on Jan. 31 when their canoe tipped over. Authorities said the other man made it back to shore and called for help, but Napier, who was said to be an expert swimmer, hasn't been seen since.

Crews searched the lake on Thursday for his body. Family members said because the water temperature is so cold, divers can't stay down for long.

Sonar has also been used in the ongoing search.
