A GoFundMe account created in honor of the 11-year-old girl killed after getting hit by a pickup truck during the Raleigh Christmas Parade has raised more than $100,000.

As of Thursday afternoon, the GoFundMe created on behalf of Hailey Brooks has raised $101,225.

“This loss has caused unimaginable pain for the Brooks family and left an entire community grieving,” the GoFundMe states. “Hailey had a kind and humble heart that was always focused on caring for the needs of those around her.

“Even in her final hours, Hailey showed her loving and giving spirit to the younger children who were with her in the parade.”

Hailey was dancing in the Nov. 19, 2022, parade with the CC & Company Dance Complex. She was struck and killed by an out-of-control pickup truck that lost its brakes.

The campaign created by Erika Parker will support Brooks’ family, and allow them to establish a nonprofit in her honor.

The goal of the campaign is to carry out Hailey’s legacy.

A memorial along Hillsborough Street near Boylan Avenue remains in Hailey’s honor.

The driver in the deadly Raleigh Christmas Parade crash is facing several misdemeanor charges. He is due in court on Jan. 26.
