Girls Soccer Rankings: Charlotte Catholic, East Lincoln join this week's top 25; 10 join the area code ranks

The HighSchoolOT statewide 25 girls soccer rankings are getting more steady as the weeks between now and the playoffs decreases.

There were only two new teams this week, but that didn't mean there wasn't some top-10 shuffling also. Providence Day moved back up to fifth as Holly Springs fell to 14th. Apex Friendship fell to 15th, allowing teams like West henderson, Charlotte Latin, Hoggard (which jumped from 18th to 11th after tying Ashley and walloping Laney), Cardinal Gibbons (from 20th to 12th) and Green Level (up from 19th to 13th) to rise.

Pine Lake Prep and Laney fell out of the rankings and were replaced by Charlotte Catholic and East Lincoln.

There were 10 new teams in the area code top 15s — including East Lincoln.

Rankings reminders:

• Rankings are updated weekly and released on every Monday
• All high schools in the state of North Carolina, excluding athletic training academies, are eligible for the statewide top 25
• There is a separate top 15 for the state's six area codes that is also updated weekly
• Rankings are paused during the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs
• Final rankings are released the week after the state championships
