Garinger will have another new head football coach in 2024
Garinger High School in Charlotte will have a new head football coach on the sidelines this fall.
Previous head coach Josh Williams told HighSchoolOT today that he had to step away from his position.
Williams was hired to take over the program last offseason. He came from South Carolina.
Whoever Garinger hires for the role will be the fifth person to lead the program since the 2019 season. In 2019, the Wildcats were led by Jeff Caldwell. In the 2020-2021 spring pandemic season, Chris Price coached the team. From 2021 through 2022, Shon Galloway was Garinger's leader.
The Wildcats finished with an 0-10 overall record last fall. Garinger plays in the Southwestern 4A Conference with the likes of Independence, Butler, and Charlotte Catholic.
Garinger's last winning season came in 2010 when the Wildcats finished 7-5 and made the N.C. High School Athletic Association state playoffs under Lin Fisher.
As one of the oldest schools in North Carolina, Garinger won a 4A state championship in 1959 and can claim nine additional state championships that were won as "Charlotte" or "Central" High Schools.
