Five NC basketball players named to 2024 Naismith Midseason Team

Isaiah Evans, Jayden Quaintaince, and Drake Powell were all named to the team.

Three boys basketball players from North Carolina have been named to the Jersey Mikes Naismith Boys' High School POY 2024 Midseason Team.

Isaiah Evans of North Mecklenburg, Drake Powell of Northwood, and Jayden Quaintance of Word of God were each selected.

The three players are 5-star prospects according to the On3 Industry rankings. Evans is ranked as the No. 14 prospect in the country, Powell is at No. 9, and Quaintance is the highest at No. 8. Evans is committed to Duke, Powell to UNC, and Quaintance to Kentucky.

North Mecklenburg is 13-3 overall so far this season. Northwood is 12-3 and Powell is averaging 19.2 points-per-game. Word of God's national basketball team is 12-9 overall.

On the girls side, two North Carolina athletes made the Midseason Team: Zamareya Jones of North Pitt and Sarah Strong of Grace Christian (Sanford). Both players are considered 5-star prospects in ESPN's HoopGurlz recruiting rankings. Strong is the top-ranked prospect in the country, while Jones sits at No. 17 nationally.

Jones is committed to NC State and Strong is currently undecided.

Norht Pitt's girls basketball team is 11-3 overall so far in the 2023-24 season. Grace Christian has dominated opponents to a 19-0 overall record so far this winter.
