Final Girls Basketball Rankings: Grace Christian goes wire-to-wire at No. 1, North Pitt and others lead area codes

In the final girls basketball area code rankings, North Pitt is ranked first in the 252, Grace Christian of Sanford in the 919, Terry Sanford in the 910, High Point Christian in the 336, West Rowan in the 704, and Cherokee in the 828.

Grace Christian of Sanford was the wire-to-wire No. 1 team in the HighSchoolOT statewide top 25 rankings, taking No. 1 in the final rankings after winning the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 3A championship.

The top five teams in the final top 25 were all champions — No. 2 West Rowan won 3A, No. 3 North Pitt won 2A, No. 4 Cherokee won 1A and No. 5 Rolesville won 4A. Other champions included No. 10 Cannon School (NCISAA 4A), No. 23 Cresset Christian (NCISAA 1A), No. 25 The O'Neal School (NCISAA 2A).

Panther Creek, last year's No. 1, finished sixth.

In total, 17 teams from the preseason top 25 made the final statewide rankings, with Cherokee the highest-ranked team who was unranked at the outset. Of the preseason top 10, six of them ended in the top 10 and one more was 13th.

The full rankings — a statewide Top 25 and Top 15 rankings for each of the state’s six area codes — are below.

The HSOT all-state team will be released in the coming weeks.
