Incumbent Mitch Colvin secures fourth term as Fayetteville mayor

Incumbent Mitch Colvin secured his fourth term as Fayetteville mayor on Tuesday night after defeating challenger Freddie de la Cruz.

With 100% of the precincts reporting, Colvin had 11,469 votes (65%) and de la Cruz had 6,089 votes (35%)

Colvin was initially elected as the city’s mayor in November 2017. He is the city’s longest serving Black mayor.

Before becoming mayor in 2017, Colvin served two consecutive terms as a city council member for District 3 from 2013-15 and as mayor pro tem from 2015-17.

Tuesday marked de la Cruz’s second run for Fayetteville mayor. He's a self-proclaimed military brat.
