A Halifax County woman is missing and is possibly being held against her will, sheriff’s officials said Friday.

A Halifax County woman is missing and is possibly being held against her will, sheriff’s officials said Friday.

Cathy Denise Carter, 35, left home on May 1 and stopped reporting to her workplace, where her mother and sister also work, officials said.

They said Carter was with believed to be with Grady Jefferson Jr. 40, and they are supposed to be driving a van that is green on the top section and gold below.

Police said Jefferson is believed to be Carter's boyfriend. He is a registered sex offender.

Family members told authorities they are worried about Carter's safety and that they believe she is being held against her will.

Carter is 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 120 pounds.
