Egg and pickle drops signal beginning of 2024

For the first time, an egg was dropped to signal the beginning of 2024 in North Carolina.

Braswell Family Farms held its first New Year's Eve Egg Drop at The Nashville Junction in Nashville, N.C. on Sunday.

The countdown happened at 7 p.m. and included a giant egg being dropped followed by fireworks. There was also live music from Meredith Davis John and Real Rowdy, food and beverage trucks, raffles, outdoor yard games, a photo booth, face painting and cornhole.

Braswell Family Farms is the second largest Eggland's Best franchisee in the United States.

Pickle drop returns for NYE

After being canceled last year due to weather, Mount Olive hosted its pickle drop on New Year's Eve Sunday. The pickle was dropped at 7 p.m. from the Mount Olive Fire Department’s Tower 23 into a giant pickle jar. Fireworks followed the drop.
