Durham police determined Friday that the death of a woman found lying on Ganyard Farm Way was no accident.

A person driving by a field Thursday spotted the body of Cheradi Elizabeth Lynch, 32, in an undeveloped section of the 100 block of Ganyard Farm Way.

"I thought it was a mannequin. I didn’t get up close, but I’m 100 percent sure it was a woman," the called told an emergency dispatcher.

Police spent the night investigating, a sight that worried Erika Parker who lives nearby.

"It’s a little unnerving not knowing what was happening last night," she said. "We don’t know how the long body was there, who put it there and why. It’s a really friendly and quiet neighborhood so it’s definitely unsettling."

Police also don't know yet how Lynch died, but they did say they are investigating her death as a homicide.

Anybody with information is asked to call Durham police at 919-560-4440 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.
