Durham man arrested after allegedly shooting man while driving on I-85

A man was arrested after allegedly shooting a man while driving down Interstate 85 in Durham Sunday afternoon.

Jessie Jose Yanez, 24, of Durham, was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Officers responded to a shooting along I-85 at the Gregson Street exit around 5:30 p.m., where they found a man who had been shot. His injuries were not life-threatening.

Police said they believe the victim's vehicle was shot at while traveling north on I-85. Yanez was also traveling north on I-85 at that time.

Officers later learned that Yanez's vehicle was spotted on Boswell Street, which is where officers took Yanez into custody.
