A Creedmoor man has been arrested in the shooting death of a Durham woman last month, police said Monday.

Dominique Xazier Lamberth, 23, is charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He was being held without bond in the Durham County jail.

Officers responded to a Feb. 26 “shots fired” call on Holloway Street near North Guthrie Avenue and found Kourtney Krista Dawson, 25, wounded on the sidewalk. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Lamberth robbed a man of $20 at gunpoint and then fired shots at the man's vehicle as he drove away. One of the shots apparently struck Dawson as she was walking on Holloway Street, police said.

Lamberth was arrested over the weekend in Louisburg. He also was wanted as a probation absconder by the state.
