Acclaimed chef Scott Crawford has announced plans for a third Triangle area restaurant and it will be serving his popular fried chicken.

Crawford plans to open Crawford Cookshop at 401 Main St. in Clayton this summer.

“This is by far my most casual concept yet, and an opportunity to support a burgeoning small town like the one I grew up in,” Crawford said. “I think this family-friendly concept – located in a really charming old building in the center of this quintessential small Southern town – will be a great fit for the Clayton community.”

Crawford Cookshop will include a 3,000 square-foot indoor space with 1,000 square-feet outdoors. There will be a large U-shaped bar and garage doors which open to a covered and heated patio. Crawford is working with Louis Cherry Architecture, which also designed his two other restaurants, Crawford & Son and Jolie.

Crawford Cookshop's menu will feature “Americana” style cooking from a wood fired grill. There will be smoked chicken, chicken and duck wings, house-ground burgers, beef and pork ribs and regular specials including Crawford’s Fried Chicken and Prime Rib.

Dishes will be available for dine-in and take-out. Delivery will also be available within a 20-mile radius.

Crawford's Fried Chicken was previously offered to-go at Crawford & Son in downtown Raleigh. More Crawford Cookshop dishes are expected to be available for a sneak preview at the Crawford & Son Curbside Pop Up in the coming months.
