A North Carolina roller coaster was named the best steel roller coaster in the world Monday, despite serious safety concerns earlier in the year.
Carowinds' Fury 325 was giving the honor of "Best Steel Coaster" during a weekend awards ceremony hosted by Amusement Today.
Fury 325 was shutdown earlier in the year due to large cracks in its foundation.
The roller coaster was closed for repairs in June after photos of the cracks went viral online.
The roller coaster was reopened in August after the two cracks were repaired.
