Cary's Lazy Daze set for Saturday in new location

The 37th annual Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival took place in Cary, N.C. on Saturday, August 24, 2013. The crowd enjoyed music, food, arts, and crafts in perfect weather.

Construction means Cary's Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival will make its home in a temporary location around the Town Hall Campus this Saturday.

The festival, now in its 39th year, runs 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, and includes all kinds of activities for all ages. The event includes five stages with entertainment; a beer and wine vending area; more than 20 food vendors; a Little Jerry Doll scavenger hunt; a cultural arts row; and the screening of a youth video project featuring original documentaries.

The Kid's World area will feature free live entertainment, games and activities for kids. You'll find it in the common area between Town Hall and the Cary Police Department and Technology Services building.

Limited parking is available downtown in a church parking lot at the corner of Waldo and Walker streets across from the First United Methodist Church of Cary and in municipal parking lots downtown. Or, you can hop on a free shuttle from Cary Towne Center (look for the C-Tran signs),1105 Walnut St., and Green Hope High School, 2500 Carpenter Upchurch Rd. Shuttles will run every 15 minutes starting at 8:30 a.m.; the last bus leaves the festival at 5:30 p.m. Accessible shuttles will run from same locations as well. C-Tran bus service also will be free town-wide on the day of Lazy Daze.

If you do plan on attempting to get a parking space Saturday morning, just be aware that there are several street closures for the Academy Street Improvement Project. They are:
• northbound Academy Street from Kildaire Farm Road to Park Street
• westbound Dry Avenue between Facility Avenue and Academy Street
• Walnut Street at Kildaire Farm Road.
