After finishing No. 1 in each of the past two seasons, Cardinal Gibons begins this season as the preseason No. 1 team in the HighSchoolOT girls lacrosse statewide rankings.
Defending N.C. High School Athletic Association 1A/2A/3A champ Croatan is 10th. Gibbons has won the last two 4A titles.
