Camper on fire closes I-885 near Ellis Road in Durham

The entire southbound direction of Interstate 885 was closed Tuesday in both directions at Exit 8 for Ellis Road.

At 11:35 a.m., a live camera from the state Department of Transportation shows what appears to be a camper on fire.

Thick smoke filled the air.

At 11:45 a.m., multiple firetrucks were blocking all southbound lanes.

The southbound lanes were closed, and there were onlooker delays in the northbound direction.
