Crime scene do not cross tape

Fort Liberty's explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) squad was called to a Fayetteville apartment complex Sunday afternoon.

According to the Fayetteville Police Department, a resident purchased an inert improvised explosive device (IED) from a flea market and brought it to their apartment off of Winding Creek Road.

When the resident realized they had no way to determine if the IED was safe or not, they called the police, who then called in Ft. Liberty's EOD squad.

The EOD squad determined the IED did not pose a threat and gave the all-clear for residents who lived in the estimated blast radius to return to their apartments.
