Baseball Rankings: Another week, another defending champ at the No. 1 spot

It's another defending champion's turn with the top spot in the HighSchoolOT statewide baseball rankings.

After reigning 4A champ T.C. Roberson gave way to reigning 3A champ West Henderson, West Henderson gives way to reigning 2A champ Burns. Roberson defeated West Henderson this week but both teams stayed in the top 10.

There were five new teams this week as Ashley, South Mecklenburg, Watauga, Weddington, and West Johnston replaced Pinecrest, Randleman, Ardrey Kell, Marvin Ridge, and Uwharrie Charter.

Rankings reminders:

• Rankings are updated weekly and released on Monday
• All high schools in the state of North Carolina, excluding athletic training academies, are eligible for the statewide top 25
• There is a separate top 15 for the state's six area codes that is also updated weekly
• Rankings are paused during the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs
• Final rankings are released the week after the state championships
