Baseball Rankings: State and area code rankings shift after more than two dozen teams fall

Loaded schedules, marquee non-conference matchups, and postponed games headlined a hectic week for baseball teams across the state.

With pitching staffs being pushed to the limit and conference foes securing upset victories, over 30 teams in HighSchoolOT's area code rankings from a week ago suffered at least one loss. Eight teams that sat in last week's Top-25 dropped a game.

Providence and East Rowan continued to slug their way to victory, and it earned both a spot in this week's top 10. Wake Forest and West Henderson slid just outside of the top 10 after losing one-run games. Despite a big win over Combine Academy, T.C. Roberson also bounced down a few of spots after dropping the second of a two-game series with Erwin.

North Stanly, West Stanly, and Northwest Guilford all dropped out of the Top-25 this week while Orange, Pinecrest, and Heritage used some big wins to sneak in.

Rankings reminders:

• Rankings are updated weekly and released on Monday
• All high schools in the state of North Carolina, excluding athletic training academies, are eligible for the statewide top 25
• There is a separate top 15 for the state's six area codes that is also updated weekly
• Rankings are paused during the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs
• Final rankings are released the week after the state championships
