An autopsy reveals that a Wilson County woman was stabbed to death before being left in a ravine along Green Pond Road.

A pedestrian found the body of Roberta Ann Fulghum, 45, on July 29 between U.S. Highway 264 and Countryside Road.

Wilson deputies used fingerprints to identify her.

She had been dead “for a period of time,” said Maj. John Farmer, with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, and decomposition made it hard to determine the cause of death.

The state medical examiner found that Fulghum had been stabbed multiple times in the chest, abdomen and left leg.

The Wilson County Sheriff's Office has identified a person they are looking for in the case. He is described as a middle-aged white man, 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 250 to 300 pounds. He had gray or graying hair and wore glasses. He drove a red pickup truck with white writing on the sides.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office at 252-237-2118 or Wilson Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.

The governor’s office and local authorities have offered rewards totaling $7,500 for information leading to an arrest.
