In preparation for next week's Art in Bloom event, the North Carolina Museum of Art is putting up some floral installations, including trash can bouquets, in the Triangle.

Five pop-up installations are going up on Thursday. They will be located in Raleigh's Pullen and Chavis parks, Downtown Cary, Franklin Street in Chapel Hill and in Durham at Boxyard RTP and Fullsteam Brewery’s downtown Durham tavern.

More installations will be going up on Friday in North Hills and Moore Square in Raleigh. On Saturday, look for a special installation at North Hills that ties into the Museum's annual Porsche raffle fundraiser.

The public is encouraged to take photos of the installations and share via social media using the tags #NCMAbloom and #PNCartinbloom.

The NCMA's Art in Bloom exhibition, which celebrates art and flowers, will be held March 16-20. This is the first time the event has been held in spring since 2019. The event was canceled due to COVID-19 in 2020, but returned for a summer event in 2021.

Events include floral demonstrations and film screenings. Tickets for Art in Bloom are on sale now.

The museum also announced that it has teamed up with Durham's Fullsteam Brewery and museum food and beverage partner Catering Works for the Tart in Bloom series, a collection exclusive flower sour brews, inspired by the floral fundraiser.

Fullsteam will host tastings of the beer during Art in Bloom March 18 and 19 from noon to 8 pm. A different selection of sour brews will be available starting March 11 at Fullsteam's downtown Durham taproom.
