In its first year with seniors, Seaforth has its first state championship.

The Hawks claimed the N.C. High School Athletic Association 2A wrestling tournament title, just edging Trinity by 2.5 points just two weeks after falling to the Bulldogs in the dual-team championship.

Seaforth had two state champions on the night, including one against Trinity that likely made the difference in the title.

The Most Outstanding Wrestler award went to Reidsville's Rayshun James. The three-time champ (and four-time finalist) won in sudden victory to win the award.
