Stolen Jeep found in Vance County creek

A Jeep that had been reported stolen in Franklin County was found about six hours later submerged in a creek in Vance County Sunday morning.

KITTRELL, N.C. — A Jeep that had been reported stolen in Franklin County was found about six hours later submerged in a creek in Vance County Sunday morning.

State troopers said that the green Jeep was reported stolen around 2 a.m. It was found in a creek off Buffalo Mill Road, near Kitrell Road, in Kittrell around 8 a.m. No one was in the vehicle.

Troopers said it appeared that someone might have dumped the Jeep in the creek and abandoned it.

The investigation is ongoing.
