Stepfather charged in Durham double shooting

A 28-year-old man is facing charges after he and his 6-year-old stepson were injured in a shooting Friday.

DURHAM, N.C. — A 28-year-old man is facing charges after he and his 6-year-old stepson were injured in a shooting Friday. 

Officers responding to the apartment on East Pilot Street in Durham found Christopher Graham with a gunshot wound to his foot. The child had serious injuries but is expected to survive, police said.

According to a 911 call released Friday, a witness reported the boy was shot in his stomach but was conscious.

Police have not said what led to the shooting, but they said there was no intruder in the house.

Investigators charged Graham with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, assault by pointing a gun, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, injury to real property and discharging a firearm within the city limits.

Graham was in the Durham County jail under a $500,00 bond. 

The incident remains under investigation.
