Stedman Woman Charged With Sex Crimes Against Teen

Posted April 9, 2008

— Cumberland County Sheriff’s detectives have charged a Stedman woman with having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy.

Meagan Leigh Reynolds, 22, of 620 Rockinghorse Court, allegedly engaged in inappropriate behavior with the teen between June 16 and June 23, 2007.

The acts were committed at the home of the teen’s aunt, investigators said.

Reynolds was charged with six felony counts of statutory rape and statutory sex offense with a child, three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and three counts crimes against nature.

She was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $51,000 secured bond. Her first court appearance was scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the detention center courtroom.

Seduction laws go back to the 1800's. We have to construct "age of consent" laws in order to protect those who are not mentally mature enough to make adult decisions.

Children should not be conceiving children and this young lady could have EASILY found a male that was 18 or over.

All I want to know is, did she check his ID when meeting him to see if he was as old as he said he was? Or did they even ask?

I was in the middle of a date with a girl once before I asked how old she was. It hadn't even occurred to me to ask before then, and I'm glad I asked when I did, but even then, a 6 year difference is the norm just about these days, not counting the girls who date men old enough to be their father or guys who date women old enough to be their mom.

I feel bad for both of them. She is obviously lonely, resorting to amateurs (maybe not -ever consider that?) for some lovin', and he's made to feel like this was a terrible thing. Yeah, let's throw her in jail and then complain about how our taxes pay for that.

Unreal righties: "save it for marriage" -very constructive, real-world smarmy advice, considering almost nobody (with OPPORTUNITY) does that. I just hoped he used a condom like he learned about from his enlightened parents and school.

The point is, it's the LAW. She should have got with an 18 yr. old and not a 15 year old, since it's the law, now she has to pay the price like every other pervert. Also, contrary to popular belief, there are a ton of 15 yr. old girls who would consent to sex, but its against the LAW.

I like how you can tell the people who think she should be convicted like she committed murder are all 40-50 year old women. Their just mad that not young anymore and taking it out on people that are.

Perhaps the boy's mother became really upset when she found out what was going on and filed charges against that woman.
If this is the case, YOU GO MOM. I would be livid if I found out that someone had been taking advantage of my child sexually or in any other manner. STAND FIRM, PARENT, AND HOPE THAT THE JUDGE IS WORTH HIS OR HER SALT AND WILL CONVICT THIS DEPRAVED CHILD MOLESTOR AND HAND DOWN A SENTENCE BEFITTING OF THE CRIME.

Love is a very strange thing. What they have done here was common place 50 years ago what makes it a crime now

I started dating my husband when I was 15, he was 22. Been married 7 years now, together 15.

She is classified as the adult. The boy is still just 15. Even if he did want it the ADULT knew better. She should get punished just like a 22 yr old man who has sex with a 15 yr old girl. They are still considered a predator. PERIOD

They need to drop the charges against her. If ever there was a loophole in the law, one is definitely in order here.
