— A state trooper going to help another officer Saturday night crashed outside Rocky Mount, hitting a power pole guidewire, troopers said.

Trooper B.K. Jones was going to help another trooper pursue suspects who had run away during a traffic stop, troopers said.

Jones lost control of his cruiser while going around a curve on West Mount Drive, near Bethlehem Drive. The vehicle ran off the right side of the road into a wooded area and struck trees and the guidewire to a power pole.

Jones was treated and released from a local hospital.

    Yet another high speed chase crash. when are the cops going to learn that radio waves travel faster then escapees? Radio ahead!

    Radio ahead to who? I worked as a Trooper in Wake County, working third shift, and we had two Troopers who were assigned to the ENTIRE county from 10pm-6am Sunday-Thursday.....so who do you assume they radio ahead to?

    "It says to assist another trooper pursue suspects who fled a traffic stop. The article doesn't say anything about a high speed chase. Maybe they ran from the stop. Maybe the article says something different at your house, I don't know.

    Would you read what you just wrote? "It says to assist another trooper pursue suspects who fled a traffic stop." Zoom in on the words "pursue" and "fled." Please tell me what those words mean to you. Perhaps you have a different lexicon than I do.

    pursue - v. pur·sued, pur·su·ing, pur·sues. v.tr. 1. To follow in an effort to overtake or capture;

    flee - To run away, as from trouble or danger:

    Please when the story is being written, get the names of the roads right. It is Bethlehem ROAD, not Bethlehem DRIVE.

    "I wonder when they will actually change the rules for leos so that the ones who are doing their jobs are rewarded and all the adrenaline junkies with guns will be removed. My life is more important than giving someone a ticket! I have no tickets but have been almost hit by two leos "just doing there jobs". In the past month! I'm sick of the abuse of power by many leos.

    Maybe when they stop running "The Dukes of Hazard" on TV?

    "Where in the article did it mention high speed chase? The people fled from a traffic stop. I guess that could mean foot chase. Point out the high speed chase in this uninformative article for us.

    Read the story again. He was going to assist another cop in a high speed chase. That's where.
