HOLMDEL, N.J. — A New Jersey State Trooper helped a young boy chase down and retrieve two dogs on the Garden State Parkway, a bold act in a dangerous situation.

Trooper Jamarr Morris jumped out of his SUV and spotted the boy chasing his two dogs on the highway near the PNC Arts Center.

"I was driving in the left lane, and I saw the kid on the shoulder on the other side of the guard rails, chasing two dogs, and my first thought was this was about to be a tragedy," Morris said.

Morris was able to grab the pet and escort the boy and dogs to his patrol car. It was all caught on bodycam.

Stephanie Woit said she went into 'mom mode' and followed her instincts to help. Woit had stopped her vehicle on the side of the road along with some other drivers to help stop traffic.

"This is a crisis, or could be a crisis, but I think I just went into a mom-type mode where my initial reaction was to stop, slow down," Woit said.

Woit called Morris 'a hero,' for his actions. Read more about his efforts here.
