State senator's farm building catches fire

Dozens of firefighters responded to a blaze at a Sampson County farm owned by state Sen. Brent Jackson on Sunday morning, authorities said.

AUTRYVILLE, N.C. — Dozens of firefighters responded to a blaze at a Sampson County farm owned by a state senator on Sunday morning, authorities said.

An 80-foot-by-100-foot building containing equipment at state Sen. Brent Jackson’s farm in Autryville caught fire Sunday morning.

The fire was reported at 6:16 a.m.

At least 70 firefighters with 26 fire units from Sampson, Cumberland and Harnett counties responded to the scene. It took about 3 hours to get the flames under control, according to a Sampson County report.

No injuries to people or livestock were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
