— The North Carolina Education Lottery will add afternoon drawings of its Carolina Pick 4 game and Sunday afternoon drawings to its Carolina Pick 3 game, officials said Friday.

The 3 p.m. drawings will begin this Sunday.

Carolina Pick 4 drawings have been held only at night, and officials said the seven weekly afternoon drawings will give players more chances to win the game’s top prize of $5,000.

The Carolina Pick 3 game has had Monday through Saturday afternoon drawings in addition to its nightly drawings, and officials added a seventh afternoon drawing. The top prize for that game is $500.

"Players have been asking for the afternoon Pick 4 drawing, so we are glad we can respond and give them additional chances to play a favorite game,” Alice Garland, lottery executive director, said in a statement. “We believe these additions will not only be popular with players but will help us raise additional money for the education programs we serve in the state.”

All afternoon drawings are carried live on WRAL.com, and nightly drawings are live both online and on WRAL-TV.

Think of what money and good paying jobs could be brought into this state , if these sweepstakes palors were controled by the state. Think for a minute about roanoke rapids, they ahve a perfect place for it, taht building on hwy 95, I can see millions in revinew and hundreds of jobs for that reagon. Call it what you want, if people play the lottery or gamble as you may call it. they are going to do it leagally or illegally so why not cash in on the idea.

the state controls all lottery sales and all booze sales then why does' nt the state sell lottery tickets at abc stores? and why do the winners have to pay tax on the winnings when the state is the payor? just a thought

I guess if the state markets this as the "Education Lottery" then people who are addicted can justify their spending. Call it what it is. "Gambling"

I love the NC lottery and all it has to offer. It's all about choices and moderation for you anti-lottery posters. I spend way more on lottery than I do at the liquor and tobacco stores :)

More false hopes to those people who need to spend their money on milk and bread not Lottery tickets.

Don't worry, these people are still buying their milk and bread and more food. Be real.

Same old thing with lotteries. They will always have diminishing sales. So to try to keep the sales going they have to keep adding more and more types of games and drawings. On the plus side the State can get back some of that EITC money they do not have but still give away.

Why not? More false hopes to those people who need to spend their money on milk and bread not Lottery tickets.

Lottery: (noun) The poor paying for the rich to go to school. Thanks!

How many games do they want to play??? The odds are more in the peoples favor if the lottery is played just once a week... These are over paid state employees running the states lottery system... Maybe we should give there jobs to lower paid employees and take their salaries to help balance the budget...
