North Carolina State Fair

State Fair ticket prices could go up by $1

Posted March 6, 2013

— Ticket prices to the North Carolina State Fair could increase by $1 this year.

Fair officials will make the request to the state Board of Agriculture during a conference call meeting Thursday afternoon. If the board approves the proposal, prices would increase to $7 for adult tickets purchased in advance and $9 at the gate. Tickets for children ages 6 to 12 would go to $4, with a $1 discount for advance purchase.

The board could give tentative approval Thursday, which would allow the state fair to proceed with the change pending final approval.

According to the board, fair admission last increased in 2010.

The conference call meeting is open to the public. It will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Hall of Fame Room at the Agriculture Building, 2 W. Edenton St., Raleigh.

shaggingsenior: Been there, done that. still boring. Same stuff every year, except the quality gets lower and lower. Only good entertainment at the fair is to sit and people watch....

Havent been in years and have no desire to break my tradition. Pick pockets, over priced food, huge crowds, parking problem. Aint nothing good about going.

It is just a buck a ticket! Start saving now, you have 7 months.

That, plus it's $4 to $5 to go on a 4 minute ride and $8 for a sausage and pepper sandwich. Fugetaboutit!

Wow! I was going to save 8 dollars by not going again this year. Now I am going to save 9!!!!! Gotta love this zero based budgeting!!!

I do not attend every year; however, it is still a reasonable price to pay. I enjoy seeing the people and viewing the exhibits;however, I really miss the new farm equipment displays that they had years ago and being able to walk though the barns and seeing the livestock close up(I do understand the livestock restrictions due to health concerns). I also used to love going to the fair and getting a good polish sausage years ago ... they still sell them there; however, I no longer get them because the quality is so poor (nothing like the ones from years ago). Usually, I I spend about $20.00 all together for peanuts, apples, pickles, etc (this includes admission and park and ride fair).

I used to work for Agr and let me just say that if they quit giving away free tickets they wouldn't need to raise the price.
They give thousands away to politians, friends, media etc.
