State donates land to art museum foundation

print friendly

The Council of State voted Tuesday to transfer 35 acres of state-owned property at the intersection of Blue Ridge Road and Wade Avenue to the North Carolina Museum of Art Foundation.

The deal is considered a gift to the museum.

The foundation plans to develop the land and use the resulting revenue to support the N.C. Museum of Art.

"Comments :: State donates land to art museum foundation"

I applaud the effort to bring a smattering of culture to Raleigh. I just wish someone would donate some land to us here in Fayetteville so we could build a new art museum. Our art museum closed several years ago and there is no money for a new one.

So the dems are giving away more tax payer owned land so THEY can sell it to developers?? Why could the state not just sell the land to developers and put some of the money against our debt??

A park would be nice if we had the extra money. WE DON"T.

"Those of us who don't live in Raleigh don't want to maintain your park with our dollars"- you are welcome to come visit the park any time you want- you helped pay for it, if you don't come and use it, that's all on YOU. The rest of the citizens of the state pay for LOTS of things we don't always use or are even near us- look at the list of "State Parks"- you pay for those too- or would you rather we just sell off everything and create a concrete jungle? Parks are good investments for everyone.

"this so-called compassionate lefty Governor hoisted her middle finger at everyone in North Carolina"- how? By creating a park that is only rented, and the State retaining ownership? By saving a beautiful piece of land for future generations- how HORRIBLE of her.
