State Bar Reprimands Robeson DA

The North Carolina State Bar has reprimanded Robeson County District Attorney Johnson Britt for public comments he made regarding a federal investigation into corrupt deputies.

LUMBERTON, N.C. — The North Carolina State Bar has reprimanded Robeson County District Attorney Johnson Britt for public comments he made regarding a federal investigation into corrupt deputies.

Several former Robeson County deputies have been convicted on federal charges in Operation Tarnished Badge. After various indictments were issued, Britt spoke publicly about details of the case that hadn't been released and expressed his opinion as to the deputies' guilt, according to the State Bar.

The reprimand carried a $50 fine.
