Starbucks is now selling piña colada drinks

It’s not frozen, and there’s no alcohol, but the newest drink to grace the menu at Starbucks might just trick you into thinking you’re lounging poolside (as you sip it on your way to the office). It’s called the Teavana Shaken Iced Piña Colada Tea Infusion, and it looks light, fruity and delicious.

The mocktail is available now. Starbucks describes it like this: “Subtly sweet Teavana® Shaken Iced Pineapple Black Tea Infusion combined with creamy coconutmilk creates a delightfully refreshing tropical beverage.”

Reviews of the new drink are rolling in, and they appear to be mixed.

A reporter at Elite Daily taste tested the drink, saying it sent her “tastebuds on a tropical vacation,” and all the different components went together perfectly. The key, Amanda Fama wrote, was the ingenious addition of coconut milk. “The combination of creamy coconuts and pineapples created the perfect piña colada taste, and I highly suggest you try it,” she wrote.

However, not everyone is in love. On reddit, one poster summed up the cons of the drink: “It needs rum.” Another poster said, “The black tea kinda watered it down and it wasn’t as sweet as I’d expect a piña colada to be.”

Starbucks doesn’t have nutrition information available online right now. But based on the description, it seems like the Shaken Iced Piña Colada Tea Infusion will be just sweet enough without sending you into a sugar frenzy like the alcoholic version of the piña colada.

This summery sipper would be the perfect beverage to cool off at the pool or the beach. The Unicorn Frappuccino also got Starbucks fans excited during its run, but it certainly wasn’t the healthiest drink to enjoy. The color-changing blended drink clocked in at 39 grams of sugar for a tall size.

Starbucks doesn’t have an end date posted for the new piña colada drink, so cross your fingers it’s here to stay! And don’t worry if you aren’t a huge coconut or pineapple fan: There are other options! You can also order a strawberry green tea, peach citrus white tea or pineapple black tea shaken iced tea infusion.
