Stamp Out Hunger postal service food drive Saturday!

Posted May 9, 2013

The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers is this Saturday, 5/11. This is such an easy way to donate some of your overstock to some folks who could really use the help! I challenge you to donate even a small bag of groceries.

You can see more information on their website at www.helpstampouthunger.com.

All you need to do is leave a bag of non-perishable food by your mailbox or you can deliver it to your local post office on Saturday, May 11. This is a nationwide food drive, so everyone can participate! Pass this on to all your friends in every state!

Items that are good to donate include canned meats, fish, soup, bottled juice, vegetables, pasta, cereal and rice that do not require refrigeration.

They request on the website that you do not include any items in glass bottles or any expired products.

If everyone who reads this blog donates just one bag for this food drive, we could help them collect a ton of food!

Got my bag in the mailbox on Wednesday and filled it as soon as I walked in the door. I might try to fill a second bag tonight. I love giving to those in need!

Quick update. I decided not to wait for an answer. I went ahead and put out a plastic bag of stuff with a note on it in front of the mailbox bank here. I will know by COB Friday if they will take it.

Faye - Thanks for the reminder. I needed that kick in the a$$.

Odd question but I am currently in an apartment complex in DC - will USPS pick up from a mailbox bank inside a small apartment complex? I would love to give somethings so I don't have to move them back to Cary. Thanks

shypkprincess - have a great vacation and thanks for sharing your overstock!

I didn't get a bag in my mailbox yet, but it will probably be in my mailbox on Friday.

Got mine in the mail today and filled it as soon as I walked inside. We are leaving for vacation early Saturday and wanted to make sure I didn't forget....it's sitting by the door now. Such a great way to help those in need with my couponing finds :)!

You two totally rock, Nakabi and Juanita! I need to get my bag ready.

Unfortunately, it looks like scattered storms and showers on Saturday so I will be sure to wrap the food in a bunch of plastic grocery bags.
