SPRING LAKE, N.C. — A Spring Lake man whose burned body was found in a wooded area off Alex Ryan Lane in November died from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to an autopsy report released by the State Medical Examiner's Office on Monday.

The remains of Jeffrey Thomas Lynn, 35, were found about 5 miles from his home.

Two men have been charged in Lynn's death.

Stevie Eric Ryan Jr., 19, of 234 Meadowcroft Drive in Fayetteville, is charged with first-degree murder, concealing or failing to report a death and two counts each of burglary, breaking and entering a building, larceny and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Jesse Lee Wiseman, 18, of 195 Lakeview Drive in Spring Lake, is charged with accessory after the fact to murder, concealing or failing to report a death, breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen property.

Both men were being held without bond.

The sheriff's office said Lynn's family last saw him Oct. 29 and reported him missing days later. His vehicle and an all-terrain vehicle were also missing.

On Nov. 2, sheriff’s authorities received a call about human remains near Lynn's home. They determined that the remains belonged to Lynn and were burned "in an attempt to conceal the death," Sheriff Larry Rollins said.

Investigators have said Lynn was killed at his home on Oct. 29 and his body was burned behind the residence. The suspects are also accused of stealing Lynn's ATV and vehicle. Both items were recovered.
