Spring Lake man charged with using sword in home invasion

— A Spring Lake man forced his way into a house on South Conner Circle on Thursday and threatened the residents there with a 2½-foot sword, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

Jonathan Antonio Richardson, 19, of 713-A Eva Circle is charged first-degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon and two counts of attempted robbery with a deadly weapon

The victim told investigators that Richardson stole his cell phone.

Richardson was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $170,000 secured bond.

    Hmmm. Sword. Spring Lake. Makes me wonder if a sword was stolen in the pawn shop break-in the previous night mentioned in another story regarding crime in Spring Lake. Hmmmmm.

    One rational I heard on radio for the right to have a handgun as opposed to a rifle was that one could keep the suspect at bay w a handgun and still call 911.
    Is the sword not as helpful? Or a machete....
    Do we have the right to bear swords....????
    When will we outgrow Carson City on the 60's TV?
    More guns=more guns= more...You get it....
    Meanwhile, let the parents figure this out as they continue to mourn and bury their children......
