SPRING LAKE, N.C. — Cumberland County investigators on Friday charged a Spring Lake man with setting fires to three mobile homes in the last 10 days.

John Patrick Walker, 26, of 1705 Presidio Lane, was charged with three counts of burning certain buildings and one count of breaking and entering. He was being held in the Cumberland County jail under a $20,000 bond.

Deputies said Walker used sunscreen and a lighter to set fire to yard debris underneath a vacant mobile home at 1651 Dimaggio Drive on March 13 and another vacant mobile home at 1690 Presidio Lane three days later.

On Friday, deputies said Walker went inside a mobile home at 1702 Britania St. and set fire to a couch inside.

All three mobile homes were destroyed, authorities said.
