Spring Lake fires town manager

Posted September 28, 2010

— The Spring Lake Board of Aldermen voted Monday to fire Town Manager Michael Uskiewicz after less than a year on the job.

Uskiewicz took over as manager last year after the police department became embroiled in scandal.

Cumberland County deputies assumed control of law enforcement in Spring Lake in May 2009, following the arrests of two officers on a variety of charges, including assault and embezzlement. The police chief and town manager later resigned.

Spring Lake restructured its police force and hired a new chief, and officers returned to patrol in February.

Board members were told not to discuss the specific reasons for Uskiewicz's termination because of a potential lawsuit.

From reading the article in the Fay. Observer the BOA had attempted to fire him back in May but could not do it. Now the town will have another law suite to fight.

Look up his work history, particularly in Dunn & Michigan. A mess indeed, RB.
