Spring - for one day only

"Seventy-five kind of sticks out like a sore thumb this time of year," WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said. "It doesn't feel anything like the weather we've had lately."

Skies began clearing Monday morning after an overnight soaking that dumped a half-inch to nearly an inch of rain across the region. However, a chance of stronger thunderstorms remains along the coast Monday.

"It will be windy but warm" in the Raleigh area, Gardner said, with the possibility of gusts reaching 35 mph.

But don't get too comfortable. The reprieve from fall's chill will be brief as temperatures drop through the rest of the week.

Tuesday will reach 61 degrees, and Wednesday will be wet with the possibility of rain mixing with snow in some areas.

It will be dry for Thanksgiving with a high of 48 degrees.
