Posted — UpdatedA rare shower or even a thunderstorm is possible at any time Monday before temperatures return to the 70s on Tuesday, said WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner.
"Any rain we do see will be short-lived, and showers will be widely scattered," Gardner said.
Monday will see a return of sticky weather, and temperatures will top out in the mid-80s. In the heat of the day, some may even see a thunderstorm or two.
A cool front crosses the state Monday from the northwest, and it is a the source of the instability. Behind the front are cool, breezy days with plenty of sunshine through to Friday.
