One of the members of the Carolina Panthers has died, the Charlotte Observer is reporting.
Curtis Whitley, who played at Smithfield-Selma High School and later at Clemson, has been found dead, according to the newspaper.
Whitley was a starting center on the original Panthers teams in 1995. He started eight games in 1996 before being suspended four games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
