CAMDEN, S.C. — USC-Upstate golfing teammates Baxter Culler of Hartsville, S.C., and Josh Gallman of Gaffney, S.C., defeated Harrison Moore of Orangeburg, S.C. and Allen Koon of Anderson, S.C., to win the Carolinas Four-Ball Championship by a 1-up margin at Camden Country Club.
Culler and Gallman never trailed in the match although Gallman had to convert an uphill 4-foot par putt on the 18th hole to secure the win.
The round included two eagles, one of which came on the tricky par-4 fifth as Moore knocked a 65-yard shot into the hole for the eagle and win. Koon converted a 25-foot putt on the par-5 15th to claim the eagle and the win.
Culler and Gallman's largest lead came twice during the round when they held a 2-up lead after the third and ninth holes. Harrison and Koon fought back to square the match after 14 only to lose 15 to a Culler birdie and never overcame the 1-down deficit.
Moore now joins father Bill (1976) as a co-finalist in the Carolinas Four-Ball. Both finished runner-up.
