DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke (11-7) earned a bid to the upcoming NCAA women's lacrosse tournament, announced on Monday night. The entire 16-team field was set, and the Blue Devils will travel to play No. 6 seed Georgetown on Sunday at a time still to be determined.

No. 3 Maryland and Temple make up the other part of the Duke-Georgetown bracket. The Blue Devils defeated the Hoyas, 12-11, on March 15 at home and the Terrapins,14-13, on March 1, also at home.

This is the 11th consecutive year that Duke has qualified for the NCAA tournament. In that span, the Blue Devils have advanced to four national semifinal games (1999, 2005, 2006 and 2007) and accumulated a 10-10 tournament record. Last season, Duke fell to Virginia in in the semifinals, 14-13, at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa.

Northwestern, the three-time defending national champion, was given the top seed after a 1-1 season. Two other ACC schools entered the field other than Duke and Maryland to give the conference the most bids. Virginia earned the No. 4 spot and will host North Carolina on Sunday in the first round.

Eight first-round games will be conducted Sunday, May 11, and four quarterfinal games will be played Saturday, May 17. The winners of the four quarterfinal games will advance to the semifinals and final May 23 and 25 at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, Md., hosted by the towson University.
