Duke has added a power forward to its 2008 basketball recruiting class, addressing a big need in their frontcourt in the process.
The Devils have learned that Miles Plumlee, the older brother of 2009 commitment Mason Plumlee, will play basketball for the Devils.
The elder Plumlee had previously signed a letter of intent to play for coach Trent Johnson at Stanford, but when Johnson took the head coaching job at LSU, Plumlee asked for his release.
According to Dave Telep, the national recruiting director for Scout.com, the 6-10 big man was granted a partial release last week, meaning other schools were allowed to recruit him. He was given his full release Thursday and by nightfall was a Blue Devil.
Plumlee, from Arden, N.C., is the third player to commit to the Devils from the class of 2008, joining McDonald's All-America shooting guard Elliot Williams and four-star power forward Olek Czyz.
Plumlee is rated the 17th-best power forward in the nation according to Scout.com. Rivals.com has him ranked No. 29 at his position and 101 in the nation overall.
