Louis Allen, a former All-America football player at Duke, passed away on Thursday in his hometown of Greensboro, Duke announced. He was 83.
Allen was one of just three Duke players to earn All-Southern Conference honors in three consecutive football seasons. He from 1947-49 under Hall of Fame coach Wallace Wade. Duke's team captain and MVP in 1949, Allen was a third-team All-America choice at tackle that year.
Allen played two seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
